Hi Folks: Still moving along. Radiation consultation today. Concluded that Jeanine will go back on May 31, at which time they will form a "mask" to her face and head. In its present form, it looks kinda like a white fishing net. The netting is quite close, and is roughly the shape of a head and face. We're told this will be placed over her head, warmed, and it will then conform to every detail on her head and face. Cooled, it will be stiff. This "mask" is then "marked" with the areas that the concentration is to be targeted to. Dr. Chang did an excellent job of explaining that the "microscopic tentacles" that could not be removed surgically are the targets. The Chemo weakens the cancer cells, and the radiation zaps them. Tolerances are very very close, especially around the optic nerve and around the ear. They have to get very "close", but use care not damage those tissues. Back to the "mask" she will be seated in a special chair. The "mask" will be very rigid and is the device that will hold her head perfectly still during the radiation therapy. She should have no pain. Will probably lose a patch of hair, and could have some skin irritation that would be treated with ointments as if for a sunburn. She will go to daily (5 days a week) for 33 days. The chemo and radiation are administered at the same time. Chemo at home each night, (pill form) and radiation each Monday through Friday. She will be monitored with blood work to make sure the platelets and white and red cells stay in the right range. Also, there will be periodic MRI's. We continue to learn just how very serious and delicate these treatments are. We are assured that "she made it through the big one", the surgery. The actual treatments will begin June 4. We are convinced that we have the right medical team, and pray that God guides them along this path. We feel he has already.
Blessings to all, and hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day.
Bill

Jean,
You don't know me but I grew up with your nieces, Jenni, Tiffany, and Melissa in St. Joe. I have kept in contact with Jenni and recently learned of your illness. I am praying for complete healing and recovery and that you would feel God's peace with you every step of the way.
God Bless,
Leigh Ann Ingraldi
Hi jeanine & bill,
Thanks for the updates. Please know that I hold your friend in my prayers. You both are such special people, I know you will come through the chemo & radiation, with God's help and the care of your friends and family.
I'm in Maine visiting our son and his wife, but will be back in Hurst on June 1st. Jeanine, please let me know if you need transportation to any of your treatment sessions! I will be happy to provide a ride, company, whatever!
Hugs, Love & Prayers, Betty
Dear Jeanine, how very sorry to hear of your illness and have been in constant prayer since I heard about it. Since I know only too well what you are having to endure.I hadn't been on the computer for a while because of my having fallen twice in May and this old lady don't heal very fast. No broken bones but contusions in both legs and left side, it takes longer to heal than a broken bone. With your enthusiam for life you are going to do great snd knowing God personnaly is another plus for you not to mention that man you have caring for you, I asked God to give him the strength for what he has to endure too,and his love for you is definately a plus.I'd like very much to have news about how Ray is doing and your progress, love you dear child, may you feel better soon. Love you much and feel confident you'll hang in there, Nina
