Well Schucks! I had my blog ready to post and then lost it!

Let me try to remember what I was typing!

First of all, I'm still in REMISSION! Thank you Lord Jesus!

Went back as a Medicare patient and signed up for the clinical trial patient. I will have my regular MRI's, but they will also give me 4 more MRI's using their new
"7 MRI". What that means is that all of the clinical trials will be paid for including the meds, bloodwork, etc. Medicare will not pay for those...SW Medical Center will pay for that. Everything for the clinical trial will be paid by SW Medical! I'm so thrilled about that!

Hubby supports me greatly! He's my EVERYTHING! He's my housekeeper, my cook, my caregiver, my shoulder to cry on, my dog, my cat...like I said - he's my EVERTHING!!!! Don't know what I'd do without him.

I'd appreciate your prayers for me, but also for my twin sister and my Dad. Jan has breast cancer and will start chemo next Wednesday. My Dad has been taking his chemo for cancer of the stomach. Praise God his chemo hasn't caused him to throw up, but he hasn't felt that great either. You can tell when he doesn't feel good...he gets really grumpy and just wants to sleep.

Thanks again for your prayers! They are keeping me going. I broke my little toe the other day and couldn't stand to put on a shoe. But it's getting better now and I know the doctors couldn't do anything for it, so I didn't bother going to see him!

Thanks and to God be the glory!

Jeanine still in remission - 4 month visits now

... and Dr. Maher is trying to get her into a clinical study, which would help greatly with the enormous consts of the (now each 4 months) MRI's. Praise the Lord. He is using Dr. Maher as his vessel in our need.

R E M I S S I O N...Remission!

Dear Family and Friends,

God continues to bless us and we are so thankful to him. We are still in REMISSION and don't go back to the doctor for 4 months now, instead of 3! When we return, I will return as a "Clinical Trial" patient and they will pay for all of my needs.

My insurance has stopped paying for my visits, so God love Dr. Maher, she never ceases to amaze us and told us that she had a "brilliant" idea! SWU is going to start clinical trials again and she told me that she wouldn't charge me for today's visit either!

Thanks for continuing to pray for me! God is good to his faithful followers! I am humbled by his amazing power.

Don't go back to the doc until Sept. 24th. Until then...Happy Trails!

Praise be to God,
Jeanine

Feb. 20th was another GREAT report R E M I S S I O N

Hello Friends and family,

Went to the doctor on Friday and was told what an AMAZING person I am. The MRI showed no signs of cancer cells. Bill and I are rejoicing at that wonderful news!
Next appt. will be May 22nd. (every three months from now on - YAY)

Thanks for your healing prayers and keep them coming.

In God's love,
Jeanine

p.s. In a hurry and will write more throughout the week. Love to you all.

Still in Remission - Praise God!

Hello Family and Friends,
I've been lazy and not updated my blogspot. Actually, I forgot what my blogspot was entitled. I decided that wasn't fair to all of you who care so much about me and my sis-in-law sent it to me so I could do my update. Thanks Shelley Ann. She put it in my section of the "Yezzello Pages" so you can all go in and read about little ole me! ("Yezzello Pages" is our own personal phone book for our family only.)
I'm still in remission and rejoice that God has spared my life! I think about brain cancer and all of those who are afflicted with this dreaded cancer. When Ted Kennedy was diagnosed with brain cancer I knew that God would use him as in instrument to get the word out about brain cancer. There's still so much research that needs to be completed and I believe that with Mr. Kennedy being in the Senate that more money will be set aside for this. I'm also anxious to see what our president-elect, Barack Obama, will do for the cancer survivors.
Nonetheless, my report was good from Dr. Maher. In fact, it was so good that I don't have to go back for 3 months now instead of 2 months. YAY! I asked if we could extend it 1 more month, but she didn't feel confident enough yet for that to happen.
Bill, my wonderful husband of 33 years, is a terrific caregiver! He makes sure that I get my medicine when I'm supposed to have it. I miss him when he travels. A big part of me is gone when he's not around. My house is big, but it's really BIG when he's gone!
My next doc appt. is Feb. 20th. Keep those healing prayers coming my way.
Health and Blessings,
Jeanine

YAY! God did it again & will continue to do it again and again and again!

Family & Friends,
My September doc appointment proved that I am still in remission. HIP HIP HOORAY!!! I know that I am healed, but the doctors don't want me using that word because in the terms of cancer the proper word is "remission"! It's my favorite word now and will be forever!
I've been selected to go to a cancer survivor camp this weekend and I'm really looking forward to it. It's sponsored by HEB Hospital and it's costing me nothing. Praise God for that! We'll be meeting on Friday morning, 10/3, at the HEB parking lot where we'll load the bus and be driven to Garrett Creek Ranch. We had to go to a mandatory meeting last Thursday and I was shocked at how many folks were going. Folks, there's really a lot of cancer patients out there...not just brain cancer, but all types of cancer! Pray for us as we go to camp and let us return safely on Sunday. Pray for all the families/caregivers who will be without their loved one for the weekend...Thanks!
As most of you know, my 3 sisters and I get together each year and have a great time of fellowship and love! This year we went to IN to see our 2 great nieces. We stayed with my youngest sister and had a blast. We got up on Thursday morning and drove to Chicago to see "Wicked" and shopped and spent the night there. Then we drove back on Friday and got in about midnight. Then Saturday we went to have our blood read. I was amazed at what my blood looked like and how active it was. I have lots of good white and red cells. She told me that my liver looked stressed and that was because of the radiation. She also told me that I had to be fatigued which was correct. She told me the vitamins to get to boost my energy, but my doctor nor my husband would let me take them. All in all, we had a great time and am looking forward to next year. Hopefully, I'll be through this cancer ordeal and able to do more than I could this year.
Continue to keep not just me, but all of us suffering from cancer and it's effects. My hair still hasn't come in completely and it gets very frustrating. What hair has come in is almost black in color.
Thanks for your prayers guys. My next appt. is Nov. 21st and I won't post anything unless something drastic happens.
Many blessings to you all,
Jeanine

Well...God did it again!

I'm so thrilled to tell you that I'm in REMISSION again! Don't you just love those reports from my doctor?! I certainly do and hope that each report from here on is that same beautiful word...R E M I S S I O N ! As you know, it's my favorite word!
I've been feeling a lot of being irritable, snotty, hateful and shared that with my doctor. She gave me something to help me and she told me that was normal for my condition. Thank God there's something normal about me!!!
I had a real treat today. One of the gals that I did my radiation and chemo with was there for her check-up and we had lunch together and then hubby and I took her to the airport. She lives in Midland and has to fly in for her follow-ups. She looked great and it was wonderful to see Lynn. She made my day!
Celebrated my Dad's 75th birthday over this past weekend and want to thank all of you for responding to your invites with your cards and good wishes. He's having a blast and it's a shame that the month of July will be over with soon. If you haven't sent your card, there's still time. And if you don't get it sent in for July, then go ahead and send it. He's just like a little boy in a toy shop! Oh, do I love my Dad! I just love everyone!
Thanks for your prayers and thanks be to God for the healing that he is working in my brain. My doctor did tell me that there is some scar build up and that I may have problems down the road, but right now...it's REMISSION! I think I'm healed, but they don't like to use that word - at least not yet! Love to you all, Jeanine

A little Nassau Vacation

This was postponed from over a year ago. Feeling good enough for it now. We had a fun, fun trip.

Thursday, May 22, 2008

Are you ready for my report from the doctor?

I'm still in R E M I S S I O N ! YAY AND THANK YOU GOD! I gotta tell you, that word means more to me than you will ever know. It's one of my favorite words! My next doctor appointment is Wednesday, July 23rd at 10:00 a.m. They are so confident that I will stay in remission that I don't have to do bloodwork any longer (or at least for a while)! YAY!!!

How can I have made it without your prayers? I couldn't have. It's the one thing that we can give to one another that is still free. I ask that you continue to pray for me and my family. We're all in this journey together.

The more I talk to people, the more I realize how many folks are ill or have cancer. One good thing about Senator Kennedy having a brain tumor is that there will be more funds given to the brain tumor foundation because he's considered a celebrity. When these things happen to celebrities, then things start happening! Let's all remember Senator Kennedy in our prayers. It's a horrible thing to go through on your own, and I feel like I know how close the Kennedy's are as a family.

To each of my readers who are sick, please know that God is with you. Don't be angry at him for health problems. Our God shall supply all our needs, according to his riches in glory. He is our healer.

Didn't mean to preach a sermon, but it's what was on my heart. I just know too many of you who are hurting.

Hubby is doing fine. He hasn't passed a stone yet, and we are wondering if there ever was a stone to begin with. Praise God he isn't in the pain he was in. He's taking really good care of me. Mom was in the hospital with pneumonia and then they sent her to rehab. She's been in rehab for over 2 weeks and will be going home on Friday. She's quite anxious to get back to a normal life. There are other members of my family requiring prayers. Please lift them up to the Lord for a total and complete healing. I lift each of you up to the Lord so that he can heal you too!

I won't be updating my blog until my report on July 23rd. Check back then to see that I'm still in REMISSION! Whoo hoo!

Thanks for your prayers. I love you all.

Just Wanted to say "THANK YOU" again

Hello Family and Friends,
Thanks for all the blessings that you give to me. I have people that I don't even know make things for me, take me to lunch and other fun things!

My hair is very slowly coming in. Unfortunately, it's a different color, really dark, compared to the blonde that it was. I was really praying that God would give me hair for the 4/12 wedding in San Diego, CA, but it doesn't look like that will be happening. I'll wear my wig and be lovely!!!

Bill hasn't passed his stone, and we're thinking that he has either passed it or that it's stuck somewhere in his body. He hasn't been hurting at all, so we think that all is well with him.

Enjoy your spring and may God be with you at all times. He does love each of us...and we all do love him!

Love,
Jean/Jeanine

Easter 2008 Jeanine and "Thumper"

Happy Easter Everyone!

Thursday, March 20, 2008

What's our favorite word?

R E M I S S I O N ! That was the report from Dr. Maher on March 12th! YAY! God continues to be with me throughout this journey. I know if it weren't for all of your prayers that remission might not be the report. Thank you for praying continually for me. God hears them and I feel them.

Got lots of things planned for April and May. My nephew, Kyle Wiley, is getting married to a lovely young lady, Crystal Christensen, on April 12th in San Diego, CA. We're looking forward to flying out for the wedding to witness this special occasion. My brother-in-law, Steve Poe, is going to baptize them both on April 13th. Should be a time for joy and even more celebration!

Then in May we are flying to Ft. Lauderdale, FL for a few nights, just to get away. We had this planned for our anniversary, but it didn't work out, so we will do that in May. We'll also be taking a small cruise to Nassau while in FL. Really looking forward to that!

Each of you have a blessed Easter. Thank you again for your healing prayers.
Love,
Jeanine

God exchanged angels with us!

Hello Loving Family and Friends,

Wanted to let you know that Bill's Dad passed away this morning at 6:15. His brother Vic called on Monday afternoon and we did get here in plenty of time to see him alive. The services will be held on Saturday at Sacred Heart at 10:00 in Waterflow, NM. There will also be a rosary said Friday evening at 6:00.

God gave us an angel to replace Dad (also an angel). Our granddaughter, Kristi, delivered a 6 lb. 10 oz., 18 1/2" with lots of black hair! Oh is she beautiful!

Rejoice with us as we celebrate these two events in life/death! Also, please keep Bill's family in your prayers.

Love to all,
Jeanine

R E M I S S I O N - That's me - I'm in R E M I S S I O N

Such a beautiful word and I thank God for being in REMISSION. It's amazing the things that you ask for that you receive. One of my things I asked for was to be in REMISSION! I also asked to be bald, but had no idea I would receive it in the form of brain cancer. Hair is slowly and I do mean slowly coming in. That's ok. I know God will provide!

Just a quick update on our holidays. Ours were great and hope yours were too. We celebrated 31 years of marriage on Nov. 22nd. Since our anniversary was on Thanksgiving, we didn't do much. Just having and being with my family was good enough for me.

All of my family was together at my home on Thanksgiving. I really didn't do anything but bake the turkey and make mashed potatoes. All my other family members provided the balance of the meal. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed seeing my great nieces (twins) from Indiana. They are so darned cute! Of course, they look just like their great Aunt Jean (not)!

The week before Christmas we flew to New Mexico so Bill could get in one last audit for his company. We took advantage of being there by renting a car and driving up north to Farmington where Bill's family lives. There we have a lot of Bill's family, sons Ray and Paul and daughter Cruzan (she owns her own restaurant and serves YUMMY food)! We enjoyed visiting with his/OUR grandchildren and great grandchildren too! His Father (who turned 90 on 1/7), sister and brother live there and we enjoyed a few days of visiting with them and then drove back to Albuquerque for the audit. Finished the audit and then flew back to the comfort of our home. I always tap my heals together and say: "There's no place like home, Auntie Em"!

For Christmas we went to my Brother Don's house and for New Years we were celebrating birthdays, me and my twin, 12/29, my Mom and Brother Bill, 12/31, and my other Brother Don 1/2. We were set for a big night, but too many family members were sick with sinus issues that folks came and left. 8:00 was way too early to go to bed, so Bill and I stayed up to watch the new year come in and then went to bed!

We pray that God will bless you with health and wealth in the year of 2008. What rhymes with 8? The word GREAT. So, may 2008 be a GREAT year for all of you!

In God's love,
Jean/Jeanine

Many blessings received this Thanksgiving!

Hello Family and Friends,
Had a delightful gobble day with 33 folks at my home! I didn't know if I would be able to handle all the people, the cleaning of the house, the cooking, but I DID IT! We were all thankful to God that he is healing me and that he is blessing me with a little bit more memory gain than I had previously. Praise God for that! It's very frustrating to not remember what you just did or said. I know you all think that you have that problem too. When I tell folks about my short term memory, they tell me they have the same thing. They can't possibly appreciate how frustrating it is. I hope that you don't get it to the extent that I have had it. BUT, my short term memory is starting to come back, little by little. I'm still confused at times, but I am starting to remember more and more!

Bill and I celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary and it was a delight. Just having Bill home for more than 4 days was really a treat for me. One thing that he's doing for me is downsizing the business. He's gone way too much for me to be handle all that I had been handling. (That's where I've noticed my short term memory loss from.) Been making lots of mistakes, which is something that I seldom do. That will relieve a lot of the stress being placed on me. Don't get me wrong, I know I will have stress in my life, but not the kind I had before my brain surgery.

Hope you are all doing well and that God will continue to bless you. He's blessed me by giving me people like you to pray for me.

Bill and I are making plans to downsize the business and have me travel with him for at least one trip a month. He's 67 and should be retired, and I want to be with him as much as possible. He, my parents and my family have taken extra special care of me. He's a good nurse!!!!

Next doc appt. is on Jan. 9th. Pray that all goes well and that I'm still in remission! I appreciate your prayers more than you will ever know.

In God's love,
Jeanine

HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ME! I'M IN REMISSION!

Well Folks,
The treat was on me today! Went in to have my MRI, bloodwork and visit with Dr. Maher and was told that I am in Remission!!!! Praise God for all the good that he does in this world. Praise God for the scientists that work so hard to find cures for these horrible diseases.

I have to go back on January 9th for another follow-up, but that's ok. I will have to do that for another year. I'm just thankful that nothing else had formed!

I have many things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. My hubby and I will be married 31 years and our anniversary is on Thanksgiving this year.

Rejoice with us as we give thanks to our heavenly Father! Thanks for your healing prayers!

In God's love,
Jeanine

Almost another month has passed since my last post!

Hello All,

My oh my how quickly time is passing. I was shocked to see the date of September 16th on my last blog. I will try to do much better to keep you informed. When nothing is really going on, it's hard to remember to post something (that's a GREAT thing)!

Waiting for next appt. on 10/31. One of the greatest things that has happened in the last week is that the swelling on my head is gone! Praise God! Since I had surgery, every morning when I would get up, the top of my head around my incision would be swollen. We were genuinely concerned that it might never go down (or away). My doc kept telling me that it would go away and this was normal; but to me, I didn't know what normal was. They see this type of situation every day and they are used to it. I wasn't and neither was any of my family. We had tons of questions which usually ended up with the same answer "this is normal". I feel I can be a better witness to others because God did give me the "normal" and now it really is the "normal". Hope that makes sense! Anyway, I no longer have the knot on top of my head. A very dear friend of ours, Joe Thomas, used to call me "knothead". He has since passed away, but he would have had a blast calling me knothead!

Please pray for my friend, Margaret Thomas, (Joe's wife) and her family. Her son-in-law, Floyd, passed away on Sunday. His wife, Pam, (Margaret's daughter)and their four grown children, and many grandchildren had a great life together. Margaret won't be able to attend the funeral in Boulder, CO. We just lift this whole family up to you Lord. Take care of them, love them and let them know how special each of them are to you.

My sisters and I are going to get together for sister weekend on 10/26 - 10/28! Should be lots of fun! They will be coming to Dallas and we'll be staying at the Staybridge Hotel in Plano. Anxious to see them again!

PLEASE Pray that I get a GREAT report on 10/31. Please pray for my hubby and my parents as they continue to take care of me. They are such wonderful, earthly treasures and I don't know what I would do without any of them. I love you all.

Hugs and kisses and God be with you til we meet again,
Jeanine
